Some of the most beautiful women in the word are getting their entrepreneurial fix by creating or collaborating on beauty and skincare lines. Who can blame them? It’s a billion dollar industry and they already have a strong brand in their name;
But are the products any good?

This is the first installment in my monthly series on Celebrity Skincare Lines and I had to start with Christie Brinkley because she absolutely defies age! I mean, have you seen this 61 year old hottie?!step3

Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare
There are 9 products listed in this line and have active ingredients such as:

• Neo-Dermyl a cutting edge copper based ingredient that helps firm and reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles as it rejuvenates the skin.

• Sytenol A is unique and powerful retinol-like anti-oxidant that visibly evens and brightens skin tone.

• K 3 Vita C is a stable form of vitamin C that helps support natural collagen production and even skin tone.

For the prosperous of keeping this blog post readable, I’m sticking to her two “hero” products here. They are said to work together to help rejuvenate the look of your skin.

Also of note, Christie Brinkley Authentic Skincare Line Receives The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Daily Use Seal Of Recommendation.
RECAPTURE 360 Night Anti-Aging Night Treatment
This night cream has some things going on which I really like such as the copper found in the product. It’s called Neodermyl which actually consists of 4 ingredients: Glycerin, Water, Methylglucoside Phosphate, Copper Lysinate/Prolinate. There are actual studies that show copper can boost collagen production. Unfortunately there is a lot of dimethicone in this product and I’m personally not a fan. Dimethicone has large molecular weight, and because it would be very unlikely for it to penetrate past the surface of the skin so it effectively creates a barrier on the skin, in theory holding in moisture. This also gives the product a nice slip and feel. But basically you wear a thin silicone barrier all over your skin all day or night. Not appealing to me but this is only my opinion and dimethicones are FDA approved and Skin Deep rates them a 3 which is low with some concerns. The Recapture-360 Night Treatment supports you body’s natural night time repair cycle, part of your body’s circadian rhythm, for real visible anti-aging results.

RECAPTURE 360 + IR Defense Anti-Aging Day Cream
This one also contains the copper which we like and has Elix IR which is made up of Water, Glycerin, Polygonum Aviculare Extract aka Knotweed which is a studied antioxidant. You’ve also got a Vitamin C in there called Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate. This is another proven ingredient and it will build collagen, fight  free-radicals, control inflammation, and lighten discolorations such as age spots. I’m not crazy about the sunscreens in there such as avobenzone. Avobenzone, while  deemed safe by the FDA, it is suggested you don’t use it on children under the age of six and you should ask a dermatologist about using avobenzone if you are pregnant.

Other products available are:
UPLIFT Firming Neck & Decollete Treatment
CLOSE UP Instant Wrinkle Reducer & Treatment
REFOCUS Under Eye Treatment
COMPLETE CLARITY Facial Cleansing Wash
COMPLETE CLARITY Daily Facial Exfoliating Polish
CLOSE UP + IR Defense Skin Blurring Primer Serum (coming soon)
They range in price from $32.95 for a cleanser to $89.95 for the Enhanced Day Cream.

All in all it’s not a bad line and there are some good actives and botanicals in there but, there are also some chemical sunscreens and other suspect ingredients that I personally would avoid. However, they probably aren’t in there at high enough levels to cause much trouble. To me, this line is also a bit on the pricey side.

In Health and Happiness,

*I think my next post will be all about Dimethicones since I was seriously starting a rant here!
